Inktober Writing Edition

November 13, 2019

So during October I attempted Inktober, writer's edition. I got about eight days in, but I enjoyed the small stories I created. Here they all are.

INKTOBER

DAY ONE-RING

Rupert’s hand shot out to stop Joseth from walking. The young dark-skinned man turned to his friend; eyebrow raised. A large grin spread out on Rupert’s face. Rupert turned Joseth to the shop. It was a vintage looking jewelry shop.

“Here’s where I’m getting Tesi’s ring.” Rupert stated.

DAY TWO-MINDLESS

Nysso held back her fifth sigh of the evening as she listened to Joseth mindless drone on about the latest physician he found that could look over Kiara in hopes to cure her ailment. She couldn’t understand it, Kiara smiled at Nysso, their daughter was perfect the way she is.

DAY THREE-BAIT

Kiara shivered as she held a slimy wiggling creature in between her fingers. A light breeze brushed against her face. She could taste the salty sea air, smell the wet sand of the beach below the pier. The kids of the class giggled; the teacher spoke over them.

“Now take the bait and hook it on.”

DAY FOUR-FREEZE

The doorbell rung, Kiara didn’t move to go get it, her hand reached up to touch the wrap around her eyes. Kiara scoffed, in order to see, she had to lose her sight.

Rupert came and sat across from her. “Hey, sorry you had to miss school, brought you back a Freeze pop though.”

DAY FIVE-BUILD

They had to build her a new set of eyes. Laser surgery didn’t work, sensory healing failed, and the robotic lenses didn’t take. Doctors were at their wits end, science was amazing, technology was almost infallible, they cured cancer, created perfect children, minor injuries were a thing of the past.

DAY SIX-HUSKY

Rupert looked at himself in the mirror, broad shoulders like his dad’s, pale complexion. Bright red hair standing out from the rest of his dark-haired classmates and even his two best friends. Kiara and Duncan, a group for the dance. His date said he was too husky for her taste.

DAY SEVEN-ENCHANTED

Duncan rested his chin on his hand and smiled wide, enchanted by Emma’s excitement over her plans for her year abroad. He had never been to Mars, but Emma made it sound like the greatest destination. They were taking a break, but Duncan wasn’t worried, they’d come back together again.

DAY EIGHT-FRAIL

Maxine hid behind the stone wall off the castle. The Guards were away, she smirked; they should know her plays by now. The Raider scaled the castle wall, her fingers gripped the ledge, but she didn’t get a chance to pull herself up. Her bones were frail, the ground was not.
