Escaping the Scapegoat

Let me start off by saying that I don’t like Anita Sarkeesian. I feel like she made a good point once and after she garnered a following realized she had nothing left to say, so instead, she just started spewing out shit like she developed an ass at the back of her throat.

Now that that’s out of the way, can we stop blaming her for everything that goes wrong in the gaming world? This last week, I saw an entire thread dedicated to blaming Sarkeesian for the mess that is Mass Effect: Andromeda. Confused as to how she was responsible for it, I asked the OP to explain; Their response was “First let’s look at how EA tried their hardest to deny that Anita was working with DICE on Mirror’s Edge 2.”

Once again, I was confused as this did not answer my question at all. What’s worse is that; that’s where the OP left off. As if that explained it all. I’m sorry, but that doesn’t explain anything. Fine, whatever; But I noticed that she’s getting the blame because of “forced” diversity. I’m not sure if the people who are agreeing with this poster’s comments played the original Mass Effect trilogy, but diversity was already there. It’s a video game, one that takes place in the future, with aliens, and you only ever have two human squad members.

Oh! Is the “forced” diversity coming from the race of the characters? Did the original ME games not have characters of different ethnic backgrounds? I guess Jacob, Kasumi, Vega, Cortez, Traynor, Maya, and Kai Leng were figments of my imagination.

Or does the “forced” diversity come from the sexual preference choices? I know male-on-male choices didn’t come until ME3, but it was supposed to be present in the first game. Now, female-on-female choices have always been present. So, the romance options of having both female and male choices are nothing new, so where is this “forced” diversity, and how is Anita to blame for it? Sorry folks, but it just doesn’t add up. I know it hurts not to have a scapegoat, but you can’t pin this one on her.

Mass Effect: Andromeda has a lot of problems and there are many people to blame, but just make sure you’re pointing your fingers in the right directions.

Shameless plug here, but I do have my own thoughts on Mass Effect: Andromeda and you can check out my review here:
